In 2018 Simon Linford published a series of articles in The Ringing World, now also collected in the Change Ringing Wiki, proposing a set of major methods useful for those learning to ring treble dodging methods, mostly surprise. Here are gathered some quarter compositions suitable for most of those methods, both individually and combined in spliced.

Over time what constituted the Project Pickled Egg (PPE) methods has wiggled around based on further discussion since the original articles. At the end of 2021 Simon published The Core Seven and Beyond: a Guide to Treble Dodging Major Inspired by Project Pickled Egg, which makes significant additions to the canon of Pickled Egg methods; while the book doesn't claim to contain a definitive enumeration of the Pickled Egg methods, but rather to have been inspired by them, I think many ringers consider it to be a document listing the latest canon, possibly augmented with friends and family of the Pickled Egg methods. Note that the "Core Seven" methods have remained consistent across any changes to PPE Anything considered at any stage of Project Pickled Egg's evolution is considered fair game for this page.

Note that all the quarters in this section also appear in the appropriate places in the sections devoted to peals at various stages. They are collected together here, too, for the convenience of bands exploring the Project Pickled Egg methods.
