By Train & Trolley
There are two trains daily to/from Chicago, Toledo and Cleveland to the west, and to/from New York, Newark and Phildelphia to the east. (You can find schedules here.) The trains arrive at the Amtrak station in the Pennsylvanian building downtown. It's a short walk (about 400 yards) from the train station to the "T", the subway/trolley line which passes near Southminster Church. Leaving the Amtrak train station, walk south-west along Grant St towards the USX building, the tall black triangular skyscraper two blocks away. Just past the USX building, cross 6th Ave and turn left. The Steel Plaza T station is down a flight of stairs at the end of the block. Head for the South Hills Village platform.
Take the 42S - South Hills Village line. Don't take the 47L - Library or the 52 - Allentown line. It's a 20-minute ride to Mt Lebanon station. Pay the fare ($2.25 peak times / $1.75 off-peak times, change machine in the Steel Plaza station) at the front of the trolley as you get off.
Leaving Mt Lebanon station, walk up the stairs on the right, then up another flight of stairs directly across the street beside the parking garage. At the top of the stairs, turn left onto Washington Rd. Southminster Church is about 500 yards (3 long blocks) south on Washington, on the left just past Washington Elementary and Mellon Middle Schools, .
