Submit an NAGCR Peal or Quarter Peal |
||
| ringing.org > NAGCR Performances > Performance Submission | |||
If this is the first time you are using this form, you may want to look over the usage notes at the bottom of this page.
The Guild's constitution states "A peal shall be credited to the Guild only if: all members of the band are Guild Members, and at least half are Resident Members; [and] complete details of the peal, including the composition, have been received by the Peal Secretary."
The primary uses of this form are submitting details of peals rung for The North American Guild of Change Ringers to the Guild's Peal Secretary, and submitting details of quarters rung in North America to the Editor of The Clapper, the North American Guild's quarterly publication. The Guild's Peal Secretary also keeps records of peals rung in North America but for other Societies, and submitting details of such performances, too, makes the Secretary's life a little easier.
To use this form, simply fill out the relevant fields, and click the submit button. If the submission is successful a page will appear telling you so, and asking you to confirm that the report being sent is correct. Otherwise, you will be asked to correct any items the processing software was unable to understand. If you have difficulty, please send email to webmaster@ringing.org describing the problem.
If the length of the performance described is 5000 or more changes, the details are sent to the Peal Secretary. If less than 5000 changes, it is assumed to be a quarter peal and sent to Editor of The Clapper. There are also a check-boxe at the bottom of the form, checked by default unless you uncheck it, which will cause the details to be forwarded to the appropriate address at The Ringing World.
It has not been possible to automate submission to Campanophile (http://www.campanophile.co.uk) so Laura Dickerson (lauradi at erols dot com) has kindly volunteered to enter them into that web site by hand. Because this is done by hand there will likely be a delay of one, or possibly several, days until they appear on Campanophile. If you prefer to enter details yourself on Campanophile please do so.
The field labeled "Method details" is used primarily for peals containing multiple methods. For peals in a single method it should normally be left blank.
A composer should always be provided for peals of Triples or above. If the composer is not known it is conventional to refer to the composer as Anonymous or Traditional. Peals of minor or below often have no composer specified. It is not necessary to supply a composer for quarter peals.
The conductor of the peal or quarter is indicated by clicking the radio button to the right of that ringer's name.
There are two fields at the bottom of the form that can be used to send a note to the recipients of the details of the performance. It should normally not be necessary to fill these out, but they may be useful when you wish to convey special information about the performance. That for The Ringing World may be particularly useful for describing donations made to the paper by the band.
Please also supply your own name and email address in the spaces provided so we can contact you if we have any problems or confusion regarding your submission. Note that if you elect to have the information in this form passed on to The Ringing World your name and email will be included, too, so they know who submitted this information.
There are occasionally rung performances that will not fit comfortably into this form. For example, with one person ringing two tower bells, two people ringing one bell, or multiple or no conductors. Such performances can be expected to be extremely rare for the North American Guild. The recommended course of action in such cases is to submit the form filled out as best can be managed, and add a note to the Peal Secretary or Editor, which will also be sent to Laura Dickerson, explaining the discrepancy. In such rare cases it is probably best not to use this form to submit the details to The Ringing World but instead to write an email directly to them with the unusual details.
