In 1978 and early 1979 a band in Lancashire rang peals in twelve new surprise major methods they named after the signs of the zodiac. These peals were rung at several different towers in Lancashire. I believe all the methods were devised by Marcus Sherwood, and the peals conducted by him.

Since then, all have been rung at least five more times, and most even more. Several bands have tackled them as a series over the course of year. Most of the methods are of at least moderate complexity, and together make a challenging and interesting series.

This web page contains compositions for these methods. Compositions of these methods in this collection also appear in their natural, alphabetic place among the pages of individual surprise methods. They are also all collected on this page for the convenience of bands that may wish to investigate them as a series.
