This page lists known errors and corrections in printed collections of compositions. Please note that where the corrections below include a link to a version of the relevant composition in the electronic compositions on this site, that version has had the described corrections applied to it. The errors described here are solely in the printed versions.
Page 2, composition number 3, 5056 Plain Bob Major by Wilfrid F Moreton is "Especially suitable for handbells."
Page 7, composition number 30, 5008 Little Bob Major by Glenn A A Taylor was too short as published in the printed collection. The version in the electronic collection on this site, which can be reached by the preceding link, has this error corrected.
Page 8, composition number 38, 5248/5008 Double Norwich Court Bob Major by Anthony J Cox has an incorrect course head. The fifth course head printed should be 26453, not 26435.

Page 10, composition number 48, 5104 Double Norwich Court Bob Major by Ian Butters has errors in the rubric indicating the calls that vary per part. The version in the electronic collection on this site, which can be reached by the preceding link, has these errors corrected.
Page 31, composition number 175. 5120 Glasgow Surprise Major by Christopher Foster. The first course head should be 4286357.
Page 41, composition number 236, 5088 Preston Surprise Major by John N Hughes-D'Aeth. Two singles V are missing, and several course heads are incorrect. The version in the electronic collection on this site, which can be reached by the preceding link, incorporates these corrections.
Page 43, composition number 250, 5056 Pudsey Surprise Major by Anthony J Cox. The course after the bob Before is incorrect. It should be 26345.
Page 48, composition number 277, 5088 Superlative Surprise Major by Nathan J Pitstow says it is also true to "New Cambruidge." That should instead be "New Cambridge."
Page 58, composition number 332, 5056 Yorkshire Surprise Major by Anthony J Cox has an incorrect course head. The course called Before brings up 26345, not 25346 as printed.
Page 62, composition number 350, 5000 Spliced Plain Major by Edward W Martin has two incorrect course heads. The fourth and fifth course heads should be 43256 and 36254.
Page 77, composition number 387, 5376/5056 8-Spliced Surprise Major by Richard I Allton cites the wrong number of changes of Rutland. It should 1152 Rutland.
Page 81, composition number 393, 5024 8-Spliced Surprise Major by Graham A C John has an error in the calling of the third course. The combination call in that course should be F/I, not I/V as printed.
The peal of 165 Spliced Surprise Major on page 44 is incorrectly laid
out. It is a three part, but the methods from the three parts have
been incorrectly combined into single lines. We are working on making
a corrected version available electronically.

Corrections to Second Edition
p 7 Philip G K Davies 3 methods - 3rd course should be YYYNYYY/. This gives
1760 Cambridge, 1600 Lincolnshire(N), 1760 Yorkshire. 84 com, all
the work, 51 cru's.
p 12 Harold G Cashmore 4 methods - 4th course may be L/X/ to retain
palindromic feature.
p 12 Harold G Cashmore 4 methods - as printed the composition is All
The Work.
p 13 Neil R Aspland 4 methods - add footnote "all the work".
p 17 Neil R Aspland 5 methods - add footnote "all the work".
p 28 Andrew N Tyler 8 methods - 14th line should read P/L/YYS/ with bobs at
V W H. Then has 704 Superlative and 608 Yorkshire, and is then All The Work.
p 39 George H Campling 23 methods - MontgomAry should be MontgomEry.
p 39 George H Campling 23 methods - footnote "Each lead different".
p 49 Richard G Crosland 6 methods bottom right of page - the 18th line should
read CR/SLSCLN/NRL/R/B/ with Bobs at W W W H H.
p 70 Norman Smith 12-23 methods - 16 methods is missing.
p 78 David W Beard 6 methods - this is NOT 144 cru's.
p 88 Robert C Kippin 4 methods - both are ONE parts.
p 100 Blagrove/Wood 2 methods - heading should be 2-5 methods.
p 100 Blagrove/Wood 6 methods - heading should be 6-8 methods.
p 101 John H Fielden 2-10 methods - 8 methods is missing.
Delete composition number 77. The correct arrangement for lead ends bcf is given as composition number 75.
Calling number 18, a 240 of Grandsire Doubles by Brian Price, was given in an unusual rotation. While still true, it caused it to no longer have the property of every row occuring once at hand and once at back. The version in this electronic collection has been corrected to have that property.
Page 294, 5040 Double Norwich Court Bob Major by John R Ridley, number 2 of those published here, contains an incorrect course head. The part head should be 32456, not 63254 as given.
Page 534, 5024 41-Spliced Surprise Minor by John S Warboys contains an incorrect course head. The version in the electronic collection on this site, which can be reached by the preceding link, has this error corrected.
Page 424, 5088 London Surprise Major by Donald F Morrison. The final bob in each part should be at W, not V as printed.
Page 766, 5016 Stedman Cinques by David E House. The first course should also have a single at 9.
Page 312, the composition of St Clement's Bob Triples by Edward W Martin is not a peal, it is only 4,452 changes long.
