Corrections to Printed Composition Collections

This page lists known errors and corrections in printed collections of compositions. Please note that where the corrections below include a link to a version of the relevant composition in the electronic compositions on this site, that version has had the described corrections applied to it. The errors described here are solely in the printed versions.

The peal of 165 Spliced Surprise Major on page 44 is incorrectly laid
out. It is a three part, but the methods from the three parts have

Collection of Universal Compositions for Treble-dodging Major Methods (2001)

Delete composition number 77. The correct arrangement for lead ends bcf is given as composition number 75.

A Collection of Grandsire Compositions (2004)

Calling number 18, on page 5, a 240 of Grandsire Doubles by Brian Price, was given in an unusual rotation. While still true, it caused it to no longer have the property of every row occuring once at hand and once at back. The version in this electronic collection has been corrected to have that property.

Composition number 112, on page 37, a 5568/5136 of Grandsire Major by Roger Baldwin and David Friend, is missing a line in the calling. At the end of each part should be one more line, a bob at 5 bringing up the course head 23654. The version in this electronic collection has been so corrected.

Composition number 283, on page 100, a 5,021 of Grandsire Caters by John F Murfin, has one too many courses at the end. The last course should be omitted from the last repetition of the A block, coming round 19 blows before the (virtual) course head (134265879) in the familiar way. The version in this electronic collection has been so corrected.

The Ringing World, 2003

Page 294, 5040 Double Norwich Court Bob Major by John R Ridley, number 2 of those published here, contains an incorrect course head. The part head should be 32456, not 63254 as given.

The Ringing World, 2001

Page 534, 5024 41-Spliced Surprise Minor by John S Warboys contains an incorrect course head. The version in the electronic collection on this site, which can be reached by the preceding link, has this error corrected.

The Ringing World, 2000

Page 424, 5088 London Surprise Major by Donald F Morrison. The final bob in each part should be at W, not V as printed.

Page 766, 5016 Stedman Cinques by David E House. The first course should also have a single at 9.

The Ringing World, 1999

Page 312, the composition of St Clement's Bob Triples by Edward W Martin is not a peal, it is only 4,452 changes long.
